Synod 2025, recognizing the importance of maintaining theological, ethical, and professional alignment among nominees to synodically appointed boards, committees, and agencies, directed the office of the General Secretary to request that such bodies provide rubrics listing the qualifications and giftedness expected of board and committee nominees. These rubrics shall include, but not be limited to:
a. Relevant education and professional experience
b. Spiritual maturity and moral integrity
c. A stated commitment to Jesus Christ and to the confessional standards of the CRCNA
The Office of General Secretary is currently working on these items and we will update this page and email you when we have the rubrics.
Nomination and Election Processes of Denominational Board Membership gives a thorough explanation of the processes for each board. Please make this available to classis delegates and any potential nominees. For a brief description of the various committees and qualifications of nominees, please see this document.
Note that nominations for the World Renew board are conducted in a different process. Someone from World Renew should be contacting you directly in regard to their needs.
As you consider nominees for the positions on our denominational boards and synodical deputies, please keep in mind synod’s urging for representation of the wonderful diversity found within our church (ethnicity, gender, age) to be reflected on our boards and in our leadership.
