Send announcement of classis meeting date, time, and location to churches, area classes, denominational board representatives, and Synodical Services Office.
Secure any synodical deputies needed and provide them with background materials.
Provide a detail or summary of your work in the agenda.
Request nominations (fall meeting) from the churches for denominational board positions, including name, contact information, and brief bio per request from Synodical Services
Request elder and deacon nominations (fall or winter meeting) from the churches for delegates to synod, including name, contact information, and brief bio
Remind the nominating committee at the appropriate time of nominations needed for any classical functionaries
Distribute agenda for classis, including copy to Synodical Services Office
Identify classis chair, host church, and confirm meeting dates for future meetings

electronic copy of overtures, appeals, and communications endorsed by classis no later than March 15; or immediately following spring classis meeting if pertains to matters relevant to reports in the printed Agenda for Synod (see Rules for Synodical Procedure)

Role of the Synodical Deputy
Church Order Article 48
Upon the nomination of the classes, synod shall appoint ministers, one from each classis, to serve as synodical deputies for a term designated by synod. —Cf. Supplement, Article 48-a
When the cooperation of the synodical deputies is required as stipulated in the Church Order, the presence of at least three deputies from the nearest classes shall be prescribed.
Besides the duties elsewhere stipulated, the deputies shall, upon request, extend help to the classes in the event of difficulties in order that proper unity, order, and sound doctrine may be maintained.
The synodical deputies shall submit a complete report of their actions to the next synod.
Church Order Supplement, Article 48-a
A classis may appoint a female minister to serve as a synodical deputy as long as, out of consideration for neighboring classes, a male minister is the alternate. (Acts of Synod 2007, p. 612)
Synodical Deputy Reports
Synodical Deputies are responsible for submitting reports to the Stated Clerk of Classis, each Synodical Deputy, and the Office of General Secretary.
