The Cadet Challenge is administered four times a year. It is a test of core strength, upper body strength, endurance, and speed.
STEM curriculum is integrated into the first three years of JROTC. This gives the cadets an opportunity to explore fields not regularly taught.
Subjects such as rocket theory, flight theory, CAD/additive manufacturing, and drone programming are taught.
In place of rifle team next year, there will be two STEM Teams.
STEM Teams are groups of students working on projects related to science, technology, engineering, and math by innovating and conducting research to solve problems.
The VEX team can host 6-20 students including non cadets. It uses engineering skills to build competitive robots.
The flight team will build RC aircraft to compete in TSA drone competitions.
The JROTC Leadership Academic Bowl team is ran in 4-5 person groups. These groups are tested on SAT/ACT questions.
If the team advances far enough, there is a chance to compete against other teams in Washington, DC.
JCLC is a JROTC Leadership event. This event takes place in the first or second week of June. This is an opportunity for 20 selected cadets to travel and meet cadets from other schools and network. JCLC helps improve leadership skills, networking skills, and physical fitness. Canoeing, Rappelling, Ziplining, Ropes Course, Rock Climbing, Drownproofing, and more take place at this event.
Along with the JLAB team, all cadets are given access to SAT/ACT study guides. The programs’ curriculum also includes future and career planning.
JROTC is viewed as a favorable extracurricular by all post highschool organizations. It also assists in applications to Senior ROTC and the service academies.
Community service is a large part of the program and its curriculum. JROTC owns Agency Street and is in charge of its maintenance. The program also helps beautify town hall and recently participated in the Special Olympics. We are open to any requests from the community.
SLP is a yearly project that connects JROTC curriculum to community service. It differs from community service because you not only serve, but you learn.
The SLP team is made up of five cadets. The project has varied from recycling, reading to younger students, a toy drive, and much more.
Parades are a great way to earn a ribbon for your uniform. Whether you march with JROTC or another organization, you qualify for the parade ribbon/lamps depending on how many times you march.
While participating in parades, you earn varsity points which can go towards getting a letterman jacket for JROTC.
Under the command and guidance of the Command Sergeant Major, the Color Guard is a team of elite cadets emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and coordination to create intricate performances seen in formations, parades, and competition, or posting the colors at different events.

JROTC has at least 2 field trips every year.
Previous Field Trips include visits to Andersonville National Historic Site, Warner Robins Air Force Base, Jones County High School obstacle course, and the Infantry Museum. Future field trips may include the Museum of Aviation, historical sites, and other significant locations.
Staff Trips include activities like white water rafting and paintball.
The Military Ball can be described as the most anticipated event of the year. It is similar to the prom but exclusive to the cadets in JROTC and their guests.
Local and national awards are given out at this time and the Battalion Commander and Command Sergeant Major are revealed.
After a fine dining experience, cadets are encouraged to dance and socialize.
