About Our Band
Tucker Creek Middle School is one of two middle schools in Havelock, North Carolina. The school has a student population of approximately 550. The band program consist of 6th grade band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, jazz band, and pep band. The band is the largsts organization, boasting more about 29% of the student population with an enrollment of 170 students.
The 7th and 8th grade bands are active in the state. The 7th and 8th grade band participate in the North Carolina Band Association Eastern District Music Adjudications. These ensembles have received Good, Excellent and Superior Ratings.
Many of our students consistently earn seats in regional and state ensembles including all- district band, all- state band and they also participate in the Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication.
Tucker Creek Middle School Band Mission
Welcome Mustangs!! This year, the Tucker Creek Middle School Band band will achieve a higher standard of performance through attentive and courteous rehearsal procedures and daily home practice. The band will perform challenging and entertaining music for their Christmas/Holiday and Spring Concerts and will participate in district festival, receiving a rating of Superior or Excellent in Grade II or higher music. We will have students participate in 6th grade band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, All County Band, Solo and Ensemble Festival, All-District Band auditions, the TCMS Pep Band, and jazz band. We will measure our results using performance testing rubrics and stakeholder surveys. Working together we will try to meet the state mandated goals for instrumental music education.
About The Director
Ms. Jodi Campbell is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and currently resides in New Bern, North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Carolina University and is Nationally Board Certified in Music (Band) for Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood.
With 18 years of teaching experience, Ms. Campbell has dedicated her career to music education. She served as an associate director at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, North Carolina, for two years before joining Grover C. Fields Middle School, where she taught middle school band for 12 years. Prior to her tenure at Tucker Creek, she was the associate director at Havelock High School for two years.
Although proficient in playing a wide range of instruments, Ms. Campbell's primary instrument is the clarinet. She continues to perform in local concerts and musicals, remaining active in the music community. In addition to her teaching role, Ms. Campbell is an active clinician and adjudicator for marching band competitions, as well as county and district honor bands, in both North Carolina and Virginia.
Ms. Campbell is also an engaged member of the North Carolina Band Directors Association (Eastern District), the National Association for Music Education, and was previously a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Honorary Music Fraternity.
In her personal life, Ms. Campbell is a proud mother to a 9-year-old son, Daniel, and two beloved pets, Lucky and Charms. She loves to weight lift, cook, be outside, and hang out with friends and family. She is passionate about inspiring students through music and helping them develop into future leaders.
