Each year, the Pathways to Excellence staff develops a new curriculum based on an annual theme. This year, we are riding the sound waves with On the Air, where communication meets creativity through podcasting and media broadcasting! Students will undergo an exploration of the speech arts by practicing and developing skills in public speaking, storytelling, interviewing, and broadcast journalism. As the year progresses, we will explore cutting-edge 21st century audio-digital tools and media technology to create and produce our own speech arts project.

This year, we are pushing the boundaries of our learning “Out of this World” as we learn about space and the wonders of the universe. Stepping outside of our comfort zones and allowing our deepest curiosities to lead the way, the P2E teachers and guest experts will guide our students throughout the year on an unforgettable journey, fostering the students’ inquiries, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Each week, students will receive new missions and “astronaut-in-training” challenges that test the virtues of a tried and true astronaut. Students, let’s get ready for liftoff and blast into an extraordinary exploration of the universe and discover the limitless possibilities of our learning in space and beyond. Mission: Stay Curious.
In the spotlight is this year’s Pathways to Excellence theme: On With the Show! This year, P2E students stepped into the action with an exciting and multi-disciplinary study of film, television, and theater. From theory to practice, students explored topics including design and production, writing and performance, history and culture. Students were introduced to production skills through creative collaborations, including set design and screen/playwriting. Creative technology tools were introduced and used to create an end-of-year production of film, tv, or theater showcasing their creative talents at our Night at the Oscars celebration.
The Pathways students took a journey and discovered the world in a whole new way, embarking on several virtual tours by traveling through land, air, and sea. With the cardinal directions of a compass to steer our learning course, Navigated, Searched, Explored, and Wondered to gain a deeper understanding of our place in the world and beyond.
Through the use of several new technology tools, we toured famous landmarks and visited incredible destinations. While investigating air and sea, we become problem-solvers and critical thinkers in a series of hands-on experiments. Students planned an immersive experience for prospective travelers as they selected a destination and became an expert guide that was presented at the Gateway to the World Showcase.

skills to observe, analyze, investigate and problem-solve!
This year, we rode the waves of coastal exploration and navigated the diversity of the east and west coasts. By anchoring our learning quests in comparative thinking, project management, and collaboration, we charted our course of discovery. Through this interdisciplinary theme, students set sail as 21st century critical thinkers with analysis, reasoning, and evaluation at the helm of their learning pursuits. The year culminated in the P2E boardwalk, where students showcased the bounty of their learning and exploration.
Following the notes that have shaped the score of history, students felt the beat of the times through the study of key historical events and figures. Students fine tuned skills in critical analysis, research and documentation, while gaining cross-cultural understanding and discovering a deeper appreciation for music, culture, and history.
Using music as a powerful connection to the past, students composed a new note of history with a personally curated expression of their learning. Through lyrics, music, documentary or exhibition, our inductees took center stage and topped the charts at The Music Hall of Fame.
