Dual Credit vs. Dual Enrollment
A Dual Credit program is a program in which postsecondary courses, taught in a high school by certified secondary instructors, which a high school student may take to earn both high school and higher education credits. Courses may also be administered online, or as hybrid courses.
A Dual Enrollment Program allows a high school student to enroll in coursework at an institution of higher education while simultaneously enrolled in high school coursework. Courses may take place on the college/university campus, through an online format or on a high school campus. In most cases, credit is granted for the post-secondary coursework only. The credits earned at the institution of higher education may or may not be counted toward the student’s high school diploma.
