Applying for the AVID Elective

Priority Deadline: February 28th

Step 1:

Complete the Application

Each student who is interested in being in the AVID elective MUST complete the ONLINE APPLICATION.

Step 2:

Interview and conversation

Each application will be reviewed. During the Spring semester AVID site team members (teachers/admin) and AVID students will come to the middle schools to meet with each applicant.

Think of this as more of a conversation, an opportunity for us to get to know you and you to get to know us.

AVID students will be there to answer any questions and give advice and/or share the student experience. Many applicants have said that having the students there made them more comfortable. You do have the option to opt out of having an AVID student in the room.

Step 3:

Placement

Each student will receive a letter of acceptance or letter of regret

Due to the limited space there is a certain number of students that we can accept. Students who do not get accepted will be placed on a wait-list in case of movement or changes that may be made the the roster.

We highly encourage students to continue their path to success in high school and reapply the following school year.

We aspire to grow our AVID elective classes to ensure we have placement for all students who meet the criteria
