ELA/Literacy Intervention

Intervention Opportunities

The Process of Data-Driven Literacy Instruction & Intervention

Every elementary and upper school schedule includes 4-5 weekly What I Need (WIN) blocks. WIN blocks are designated times for all students to receive targeted interventions and/or extension activities to support their ongoing academic success.

In elementary grades, students experiencing reading difficulties receive small-group or 1-1 support from a licensed interventionist. Elementary interventionists primarily utilize a targeted literacy intervention program called mCLASS Intervention. Read more about elementary intervention below.

In upper grades, interventionists use a combination of research-based strategies and curricular materials that are designed to meet the specific needs of adolescent learners. Read more about upper school intervention below.

Elementary Intervention

mCLASS Intervention is the primary tool used to provide engaging, research-based lessons and games to propel students towards grade-level proficiency. The program addresses the critical literacy skills of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
