Project Set-up

Make a new Google doc:

  • Rename the Doc: Your Name's Social Justice Sources (e.g. Ms. Boninti's Social Justice Sources)
  • Share the Doc with your teacher


Make a copy of the Note-taking Template

  • Rename the Doc: Your Name's Social Justice Notes (e.g. Ms. Boninti's Social Justice Notes)
  • Share the Doc with your teacher

Step 1: Background Research and Hard Evidence

Open a background article on your topic.

  • Copy and paste the citation for your background article into your 'Sources' and 'Notes' Google Docs.
  • Print out the article.
  • Read the article and highlight the hard evidence.
  • Take notes. Copy and paste a passage that you highlighted into the 'Direct Quote' section of the note card. Paraphrase the quote and add a comment (i.e. Comment = your analysis of the quote).
  • Locate 1 additional article in the ABC-CLIO Issues database.
  • Print the article

Step 2: Advanced Searching in the Databases

  • Complete the Keywords Chart. Use the background articles that you located yesterday to develop keywords. Example Keywords Chart.
  • Conduct advanced searches in the recommended databases (below) to locate relevant articles on your research topic.
  • Cite your sources.
  • Print your articles.
  • Highlight hard evidence.
  • Take notes.

Step 3: C.R.A.P Test, Google Searching, and Citing Sources in EasyBib

  • Work with a partner to complete the C.R.A.P. Test Worksheet.
  • After completing the C.R.A.P. Test worksheet, use the C.R.A.P. Test to evaluate this webpage on Solar Energy.
  • Use the Google Searching Tips below to locate information on your topic. Cite sources in EasyBib, but DO NOT sign-in.

Step 4: Independent Work

  • Conduct advanced searches in the recommended databases and Google to locate relevant articles on your research topic.
  • Cite your sources.
  • Print your articles.
  • Highlight hard evidence.
  • Take notes.
