There have long been discussions of sending astronauts to Mars. It would be a long and dangerous mission. Why do humans want to explore distant planets? What drives our curiosity, even in the face of danger?
Do you look at achievements made through space exploration as country-specific successes or do you regard them to be triumphs of humanity? How are countries cooperating on space exploration?
What makes us root for a character to live in a survival story? In what ways do you identify with Mark? How does the author get you to care about him?
What are some of the ways the author established his credibility with scientific detail? Which of Mark's solutions did you find most amazing and yet believable?
In what circumstances does the world come together to save a particular person?
