Read-a-thon 2022
On Friday, April 8th, 76 students participated in an exhilarating 16 hour Read-a-thon to chose last summer's One School, One Story book: A Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. To learn more about Read-a-thon, read this Register Forum article and check out the official Read-a-thon video below!
At the end of the 16 hours, we asked students to share their reflections on the event. Here are a few highlights:
"It was such a fun, team building event. People got to talk about books together, enjoy activities together, and have fun together!"
"They (the school community) should know that the hardest part was putting a book down."
"It was a super fun experience that made me excited to come to school."
"16 hours sounded so long but with the party breaks I had more energy than I did in a regular school day and truly enjoyed the books I read."
"The Read-a-thon was a breakthrough. Not just for reading as a community, but discussing representation within the books; inciting a feeling of oneness."
"The readathon is a great way to meet new people and talk about things you are passionate about."
