This iCivics game is a great tool to explore the American judicial system. Students will use this link to play the game and can earn 10 extra credit points by doing the following:
1-Take a screenshot of your score/ outcome
2-Identify two things you learned
3-What if any steps can be taken to reform the judicial system? How can lawmakers (Congress) hold the court to a higher standard?
SCOTUS Magazine Extra Credit
For 10 points of extra credit find a magazine cover image that connects to a supreme court case we have studied in this class (a good example is any magazine cover on roe v. wade) and explain
1. how the image/graphic used connects to the case
2. what this cover tells us about how society/America at the time viewed this case
3. how the legal impact of the ruling on this case connects (or doesn't) to the way people in America viewed this case
for further clarification there is a video on google classroom that walks you through everything verbally
Interest Group Email Extra Credit
1. Find an interest group and sign up for their emailing list
2. Once you receive an email from this interest group analyze the email you were sent: What words are they using to get your interest? What images are they using? What is their message? What are they trying to get you to do? Donate? Sign up for something? How do you feel about this email? Does it feel intrusive? Does it feel engaging? Do you want to learn more? How effective is this email? What does this tell you about interest groups?
