Diversity Day

May. 17 2026
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Carle Place Unity Club hosted its' big annual event for diversity day. Students gathered in the lunchroom after school to celebrate and enjoy a day that celebrates many cultures, which were represented at the school through food, decorations, and other exciting displays, like dolls.
Students from different backgrounds set up tables dedicated to their culture or a culture that interested them. Each table included traditional food, such as China with LaTiao and South Korea with Kimbap, and each table had the country’s flag. Additionally, many students brought colorful decorations. Some students even went above and beyond and brought a poster board with important facts about their culture and traditions.
The lunchroom was filled with students and teachers walking around tasting foods from around the world. Many enjoyed trying cultural food they had never tried before, giving them a chance to experience something new and appreciate another culture. This event was long anticipated, and the Unity Club had been planning for it since the beginning of the year.
The event was not primarily about food, but about bringing people together. It has certainly been an eye-opening event and a great educational opportunity. The Unity Club wanted students to experience different cultures and to understand the importance of diversity in the Carle Place community, a goal that was happily reached.
The Unity Club would like to thank everyone who attended and the members of Unity who made this event possible! The club will also be working towards making a more exciting Diversity Day event next year and in the years to come!
