Create a catapult using the materials and following the procedures below. You can also create your own catapult using your own materials and procedures if you wish. Send a picture or video of your catapult in action. Have fun and enjoy launching different objects from your catapult. The simple machine you are making consist of a Lever & Fulcrum.
Possible Materials: Yardstick {wooden} or long piece of wood {1x2 or 2x4} Length 3 to 4 ft. / block or brick, large can, bucket, log / Solo cup / bowl and attach to stick/board {Glue, duct tape} / Different objects to put in the cup
Procedure:
1: Attach cup or bowl to yardstick or long piece of wood.
2: Put your brick, can or, log under your board or yardstick {Fulcrum}
3: Put the object in your cup / bowl your going to launch
4: 4. Push down on the opposite end of the yardstick / board quickly (with either your hand or foot) and observe what happens to your object
5: Observe & Measure the distance your object traveled from it starting point
6: Repeat a few times and try different objects {Observe & Measure}
Just a thought: Does it matter where you put the Fulcrum in relation to how far the object travels?
