SCPA offers CTE courses to students in grades 7-12. The CTE programs emphasize workforce development to meet qualifications for successful employment and ongoing education in their chosen career pathways. In addition to meeting Ohio Core graduation requirements, students at SCPA involved in career technical pathway programs take 450 to 900 hours of career-focused coursework over their time in a program, giving them significant insight into their chosen careers.
The Arts and Communication pathway programs offered at SCPA focus on three areas:
Media Arts: Creative Writing
Performing Arts: Dance, Drama, Technical Theater
Visual Design & Imaging: Visual Arts
Each program offers specific courses that must be completed within a program of study, follow content standards specific to its field, and require completing a career-technical assessment (WebXam). The Ohio Department of Education has carefully crafted courses that prepare students to combine broad knowledge, insight, and understanding of business processes with academic attainment and workplace readiness. At SCPA, highly qualified and professionally experienced teachers in each field create courses of study that offer a depth of knowledge and expertise in technical areas such as drama, creative writing, jazz studies, piano, dance, technical theater, fine art, digital art, and media arts.
We are proud to be part of the Ohio Career Technical Education family. As a career and technical high school, SCPA strives to help your students achieve their artistic goals and ambitions every day. Whether students are headed to college or the workforce, career technical education will help them prepare for their futures.
