Introducing the 2022-2023 Leadership Board

Cabot Theatre is proud to introduce to you something new to our family: The Leadership Board. The Leadership Board, or 'Board' for short, is a collection of 10 upcoming juniors and seniors chosen by the directors for their dedication to the department, their kindness to others, their alignment with our core values, and their service to others. The Board consists of 5 technicians, 5 performers, and our dance captain.

We hope that having student leadership will allow our students to form even deeper ownership of the department as well as to instill and grow our core values within the existing department and upcoming students. The Board will help organize and carry out extra CT events, gather and communicate information, and help the directors lead the program to success each year.

This year, our board includes upcoming juniors Gracie Williams and Zack Saunders, and upcoming seniors Ashley Drees, Anna Grace Kendall, Grayson Lee, Jake Johnson, Jersey Petross, Kade Soden, LeAnna Rogers, Lindy McLeod, and Maddy Grace.

Dance Captain

Ashley Drees

Ashley is most known for her performance in Matilda the musical as a maggot. She is a beautiful dancer and has been dancing competitively at the Cabot Dance Academy for 15 years.

Technicians

Zack Saunders

Zack started his career in CT just this year, working his very first show, Matilda, as a spot operator. A youngin on the Board, he hopes to make the cross into performance this year and also hone his skills as a technician.

Anna Grace Kendall

Anna Grace finished out her 2021-2022 season as the follow spot operator for Matilda. More than the follow spot though, she is one of our main scenic painters for our sets. She will continue to bring our sets to life next year with her painting skills.

Kade Soden

Kade is most known for his work on the Fly Crew during the CT production of Matilda the musical. He is excited about his technical promotion to stage left stage manager for the upcoming season.

LeAnna Rogers

LeAnna is our props extraordinaire. She can mostly be found by every prop table ever during any CT performance, though, she will be hanging up her props hat for stage right stage manager next season.

Maddy Grace

Maddy has been helping the boys get into makeup for shows almost every season thus far. Next year she will take on a bigger responsibility by assuming the position of stage manager for our productions.

Performers

Gracie Williams

Gracie is most notably known not only for her performance as Lavendar in Matilda the musical but also for her love for the salamander that played the newt - Richard Parker. She also cheers for the Cabot High School cheer squad.

Grayson Lee

Grayson is new to the CT family this year, having moved all the way from California where she has been performing for several years. She is known for her performance in Matilda the musical as Bruce and in Freaky Friday as Ellie.

Jake Johnson

Jake started his career with CT as Chad in CT's High School Musical. This year, his most notable number might be his performance as Rudolpho in Matilda the musical, though we also very much enjoyed him as Eric the maggot as well.

Jersey Petross

Jersey is known for her outstanding performance as Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda the musical. She is also a fantastic dancer and has been dancing competitively with Ashley at CDA for 13 years.

Lindy McLeod

Lindy is also a new addition to our family this year, coming to us from Harding Academy in Searcy, Arkansas. She continues her performance career with us with her most known performances as Monica, the quirky best friend in Freaky Friday and Hortensia in Matilda the musical.

We look forward to the life and leadership this Board will bring to CT next season! Be on the lookout for exclusive contect written by The Board!

Cabot Theatre is proud to announce our involvement in the 2022 Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards! In our first year participating, we have submitted our spring 2022 production, Matilda the musical as our entry into the awards. Many of our students were sent in as nominations for awards such as best actor/actress, supporting actor/actress, and student technical director and we anxiously await news for whether or not they will be in the final running!

Juniors Ashley Drees and Lindy McLeod have been chosen to act as ambassadors for CT in preparation for the awards and will be performing in the opening number of the ceremonies. As part of their experience as performers in the number, they will spend the week leading up to the awards at The Orpheum in Memphis attending dance and vocal rehearsals to prepare for the event.

We expect to hear back April 25th concerning whether or not Cabot Theatre will receive the honor of sending more students to the Orpheum for the week leading up to the awards. Either way, we are extremely proud to have such an honor and to see our ambassadors shine in the opening number. Tickets for the awards go on sale May 9th to the public on Orpheum-memphis.com. Check back with us at the end of April to hear who else gets to go!
