Based on the most recent research on best practices, CPS Social Science pedagogy focuses teaching and learning on Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Thematic Inquiry. We do this to help make content sticky (building schema), to encourage students to make their own connections between content and their lives, and dive deep on topics relevant to students in meaningful ways. 

• Culturally Responsive Inquiry prioritizes affirming students’ identities, experiences, and cultural capital through inquiry-based practices in social science. Teachers construct opportunities for students to critically analyze problems and issues in society that are relevant to their lived experiences, and support students to take informed action.
