DIFERENCIACIÓN PARA EL PROGRAMA DE SOBRESALIENTES

Estudiantes en el Programa de Sobresalientes frecuentemente recibirán lecciones diferentes y/o modificadas que son más apropiadas para su nivel de español. Estas lecciones están basadas en los Estándares Comunes Estatales en las áreas de lectura, escritura, comprensión auditiva y expresión oral.

Students in the Bilingual Gifted program will often receive different lessons and/or modified versions of my Spanish lessons that are more appropriate for their language proficiency level. These lessons are aligned to Common Core State Standards in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

In partnership with the students' homeroom teachers, Language Acquisition teachers aim to address these objectives with Heritage Spanish speakers, many times and with increasing complexity, starting in Pre-K and continuing beyond 2nd grade.

Lectura / Reading

Identify beginning and ending sounds of words
Identify the first word of a sentence
Follow words from left to right
Recognize all upper and lowercase letters
Identify the title, author and illustrator
Read grade-level texts with purpose and understanding
Use context clues to self-correct and to clarify meaning of unknown words
Ask and answer who, what, where, when and why questions to show comprehension of a text
Describe and compare characters
Identify who is telling the story
Identify and describe setting, problem + solution
Determine the central message, theme and/or main idea of a text

Escritura / Writing

Write all upper and lowercase letters
State opinions and provide reasons to support
Draw and write about a sequence of events in order and with appropriate detail
Craft informative/explanatory texts that include facts about the chosen topic
Capitalize and punctuate appropriately
Define and use nouns, adjectives and verbs appropriately
Form plural nouns
Use verbs to convey past, present and future
Sort words into categories

Follow oral directions
Recognize rhyming words
Ask and answer who, what, when, where, and why questions about texts that are read aloud
Follow agreed-upon rules for discussion

Accurately produce vowel and consonant sounds

Build on the comments of peers
