1 - Continuous Improvement
In order to develop sustainable and equitable schoolwide practices for SEL, schools need to engage in a process of continuous improvement that involves a broad range of stakeholders to identify and monitor progress toward goals and strategies aligned to community-identified priorities.

Required Evidence for Certification
Action steps within at least one theory of action in the school's continuous improvement work plan focuses on improvement within the CPS School Climate Standards for the years 2020-2022.
Action steps include activities in both the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.
Action steps include universal strategies to support all students or are targeted to address inequities among subgroups.
Progress monitoring is completed for action steps related to the School Climate Standards.
Note: A completed action plan on this template or the Whole School Safety Plan (for select high schools) can take the place of the CIWP requirement.
Planning Guide

a) Review CIWP with school-wide team to determine progress on goals and next steps that need to be taken and/or adjusted to align future supports to needs
b) Utilize the Supportive Schools Self-Assessment and Planning Tool to connect your work to the 8 supportive schools indicators and School Climate Standards
c) Identify data related to your goals that will be monitored and analyzed by a variety of stakeholders

Tips for Submitting Evidence
Please double-check that you are uploading your most recent CIWP. Every year, a few schools accidentally upload an outdated plan.
Please upload a PDF of the full plan. Check to make sure that the theories of action and action steps are included!
Action steps in the CIWP must refer to SEL strategies that support all students. That is action items that only refer to services that only impact a subset of students do not meet this standard unless they are designed to address an inequity among a subgroup.
If you complete progress monitoring activities on the CIWP platform, this will be viewable by the reviewer in the PDF of the full plan. If your school uses a tracker or some other progress monitoring tool, you can link that instead.
Great example of School Evidence
BRIGHTON PARK ELEMENTARY
Check out Brighton's great example of their CIWP handout that they distributed to their partners and stakeholders in order to ensure they are all working towards the same goals!
Great job Brighton Park!
