SAT Tips and Tricks

1) Practice is key

Intentional practice is the leading indicator of success on the SAT. Use the tools at Khan Academy's Official SAT Practice (OSP) site: khanacademy.org/sat

2) Work through the full test

There are 8 practice tests available from the College Board. We'll take some of the tests in class, but you can work on them yourself. Remember to use a timer for each section so that you get used to the pacing of the test!

3) Focus on developing the skills you struggle with

Don't focus on the things you already know, learn more about the skills you lack! On the Khan Academy OSP site, click on the "Practice" tab to select specific skills to work on. This will allow you to see hints and practice problems for anything you're having trouble with.

4) Perseverance and persistence are at the heart of learning

Never settle for "good enough." The students who get high scores are the ones who kept working on the problems that stumped them, and worked towards mastery of each skill. The Khan Academy OSP site will rank your skills from 0 to 4. Keep practicing a skill until you get to Level 3 or 4!
