Course Request Process
Each current NCP student will have an individual course request appointment with their counselor, beginning with all juniors and any sophomores with IEPs in mid-January and continuing through March with our current 9th graders. Individual appointment times are assigned to students and will be sent out a week before appointments begin for their grade level (typically mid-January for juniors, early February for sophomores, and late February for 9th graders).
Prior to their course request appointment, students should login to Aspen to review available courses as well as recommendations from their current teachers. Students may begin selecting courses in Aspen prior to their appointment with their counselor; however, course requests will not be finalized until students have met with their counselor.
During course requests appointments, students will review the courses they are interested in as well as those they received recommendations for and ultimately select a first and second choice course for each of their seven courses for the 2026-27 school year. Counselors will finalize student course requests during the appointment.
Reselecting Courses
Students may be asked to select a new course if the demand for a course exceeds the number of seats available. When this occurs, the list of requests is randomized, and students are asked to reselect a new first choice. Priority for seats is given to our current 11th graders and any students with special programming needs, followed by 10th grade, and finally 9th grade.
