AWESOME Job on l
Good afternoon 3rd grade families,
You all should have all received an email from CPS stating that 3rd grade will be quarantining and learning from home until September 14th.
Students should log on to Google Meets and log in with their homeroom teacher tomorrow at 8:45. Both Mr. Idlas and Mr. Graves spent a lot of time practicing logging in with the kids this afternoon. We also sent home emails and passwords for both IXL and students CPS Google accounts. Their usernames are everything before the @ sign in their email. For example, if my CPS email is jaidlas@cps.edu, my username is just jaidlas.
To prepare for the possibility of quarantining, we reset all student passwords. Students should have these memorized by now. They are also on the slips of paper that we sent home.
Thank you so much for your patience as we get our remote learning programs up and running. We will be discussing schedules first thing tomorrow morning.
Thank you,
The Third Grade Team

Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Student Mandatory Training
(How to report if you have been sexually harassed…
and what you should do if this happens to you…
30 minute video presentation, May 26th 11:15am-11:45am )
With an ever-changing education landscape, the safety of our Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students continues to be of the utmost importance. Earlier this year, our staff completed compliance training “Protecting Chicago’s Children”. These training sessions further ensure our staff remain vigilant about addressing any issues that could compromise the health and safety of your students. The next phase of the Office of Student Protection and Title IX’s commitment to this endeavor is providing training on preventing and reporting abuse to all K-12 CPS students.
The Office of Student Protection and Title IX (OSP) Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Student Training covers the following 5 learning objectives in developmentally appropriate language:
1. Students will understand CPS Title IX Policy and Discrimination Statement
2. Students will know who the Title IX Coordinator is, what OSP does, and how to get in touch with OSP
3. Students will understand what constitutes sexual harassment
4. Students will be aware of the resources available to students who report sexual harassment or retaliation, including interim measures pending an investigation
5. Students will know what to do if they believe they or other students have been subjected to sexual harassment
As a district OSP has collaborated across a number of departments to create developmentally appropriate sessions that will allow students to identify abuse and empower them to report any wrong doing that may have occurred. The training will take place on May 26, 2021 from 11:15-am-11:45am
Parents have the right to opt-out of the Office of Student Protection and Title IX Student Training. If you choose to opt your child out please return the attached form to Principal Mason. The Opt-out form is also posted on our website on the Main Office page.
If you wish to teach your child this material yourself, you can access the videos to the sessions on the OSP website at www.cps.edu/osp.
For questions about course content, please submit them here, and the OSP Training Team will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for making CPS a safe place to learn for our students.
Thank you so much for your support!

Third Grade Families,
Next week, students will still be fully remote. Please be patient with the new schedules. We will send them out as soon as we can get them to you.
Hybrid-Learning begins on February 1st for those families who signed up in December. In order to prepare for this, students who are participating in hybrid learning will start at home with some easy practice.
We are asking the Hybrid-Students to start practicing the following in the upcoming week:
Wearing a mask for the entire school day
Self-awareness of being in a personal desk space
Understand schoolwide social distancing (6 feet) at all times
Parents can opt-out of the Hybrid-Model at any time. Remote Learning Families can choose to opt into the Hybrid-Model at the beginning of 4th Quarter.
Remote learners keep attending the Google Meets sessions daily. We know it will be an adjustment listening to us speak with a mask on for the entire school day. Please be patient as we adjust to a new way of teaching both Hybrid-Learners and Remote Learners simultaneously.
Wednesdays will be fully remote learning days for both students and teachers.
Thank you!

Parents and Caregivers,
We made it through the third week of remote learning! We think the students are starting to navigate through the classrooms…this is huge!
Please make sure you filled out the FIIF form for the office. Chicago Public Schools requires every student to submit a Family Income Information Form (FIIF). The information from the FIIF is used to determine our school's allocation of state funds for next school year. The information is also used to screen eligible recipients for healthcare (Medicaid) and food assistance (SNAP).
Please continue to check this Third Grade Blog. We will update this weekly with class information.
Next week, please be on the lookout for a list of commonly used websites inside the Google classrooms.
Thank you!
Third Grade Team

We did it! We made it through the first week of remote learning. Awesome job students. You came to class and made it work this week. I know some of you were anxious and nervous…keep up the hard work.
HUGE shout out to all of the parents and caregivers…this is a learning experience for all. I can’t thank you enough for the patience and support…especially the tech support.
Have a great weekend and sharpen your saw!
See you Monday at 8:55 am

Google platforms (Google Classroom, Google Meets, Aspen...) work best on a laptop, desktop or ipad. Many of the features do not appear or are lost on phones.
Students should access their classrooms through their CPS email accounts. For security reasons, outside emails (even gmail accounts) will experience drops or limited access.
9/11 Parents remember TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th will be Virtual back to school night. The meeting links will be sent out from Murray administration...we will post the link next week too! :)

From Murray Administration (read below)
Greetings Parents/Guardians:
It's that time of year again, when Chicago Public Schools requires every student to submit a Family Income Information Form (FIIF). The information from the FIIF is used to determine our school's allocation of state funds for next school year. The information is also used to screen eligible recipients for healthcare (Medicaid) and food assistance (SNAP).
Additionally, CPS requires that all parents submit health and safety forms for each student.
Parents have several options for submitting forms: email (murrayschoolforms5335@gmail.com), fax (773-553-0590), drop off at Murray (M-Th, 9AM-6PM). There are also hardcopies of all forms available for pick-up at the school.
Thank you in advance for your timely attention to this matter. If you need further assistance, please contact the school at 773-535-0585
