Book in the Bag
Every Friday, your child will receive two library books in a book bag. These books are for you to enjoy with your child and to encourage reading at home. Use this time to ask your child questions as you read (some examples are below).
Please return these books every Friday (or the last day of the week) in the book bag, and your child will exchange them for new ones. PLEASE TREAT THESE BOOKS WITH CARE AND RETURN THEM EVERY WEEK.
SOME QUESTIONS YOU CAN ASK:
~What was your favorite part? Why?
~Who was your favorite character? Why?
~What was the setting?
~What happened in this story? (retell)
~What was the problem? the solution?
~What do you think might happen next?
~What would you do if you were the character?
~What happened at the beginning? middle? end?
~What happened first? then what happened? then what?
~How did ______(character) feel when ______(something that happened)?
~Was this story real or pretend? How do you know?
~Have you read a story like this before? What was the same? What was different?
~How was ______(character) different than ________(character)?
Other Homework
Other times throughout the year your child may receive assignments to complete at home. There is no mandatory homework in Pre-K, but there may be some optional work and fun activities. More info to follow.
