2026-2027
Dear Sixth Grade Families,
Welcome to a brand new and exciting school year! My name is Hala Karim, and I am thrilled to be your child's 6th-grade English Language Arts and Social Science teacher. Teaching is my passion, and I'm committed to creating a positive, fun, creative, and engaging learning environment for all students.
This year marks my 14th year teaching. I hold a Master's degree from DePaul University and a Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). I've taught in several wonderful cities, but Chicago is truly home. I’m a proud Bulls fan and deeply rooted in our vibrant community.
Our classroom thrives on creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Students will engage in PLENTY of interdependent projects, exciting novel studies, and dynamic discussions. This year, we'll explore captivating books like Matilda, Coraline, From the Front Desk of Zoe Washington, Front Desk. My goal is to foster a supportive classroom culture where students feel valued and motivated to learn.
In addition to academics, I'm excited to share my passion for drama, theater, and music. I lead the Drama Club and enjoy playing the ukulele, often incorporating music and acting into our classroom activities to enrich our learning experiences.
Communication is key to student success. You can easily reach me at habdulkarim@cps.edu. I welcome your questions, insights, and involvement—your support is invaluable.
