To all of my students and families of Stone Scholastic Academy, this website was created just for YOU! This is meant to be a safe space for learning, exploring, and growing as we make our way into the school building for the 2023-2024 academic year. I created this platform to ensure you have helpful information as you navigate this transitional period. Please also be prepared to discover monthly Newsletters with fresh Social-Emotional ideas and resources that will keep you feeling festive! I hope that each of you are safe, well, and are finding ways to cope during this season of many changes! The COVID-19 pandemic that led to remote learning during the start of the 2020-2021 school year has caused you all to adapt greatly to support your student(s). I want to commend you for the efforts you have made to help your student(s) grow and learn to adapt along with you. You play such a critical role in your child's development and I want to ensure that you know I am a resource to you.
According to Bronfenbrenner's widely accepted Ecological Systems Theory, your child's development is greatly impacted by a variety of systems that they may directly or indirectly interact with. Your child's development may also be impacted by how these systems engage with one another. Let's briefly go over the five systems:
Microsystem - The immediate environment (i.e. parents, peers, teachers)
Mesosystem - The interactions between the various microsystems (i.e. the interaction between the child's parent(s) and teachers)
Exosystem - Informal and formal social structures (i.e. the neighborhood)
Macrosystem - Cultural elements (i.e. socioeconomic status and ethnicity)
Chronosystem - The environmental changes that happen over time

The more we (you and the Staff at Stone) collaborate and communicate as parts of your child's microsystem, the smoother their growing process will be. With that said, as your social worker, please reach out to me when needed. I may not always have the answer right away, but I am committed to learning and growing alongside you to ensure you have the resources you need to see your child succeed!
