Hello! My name is Ms. Richmond and I am excited to be starting my third year with the James Ward community. I truly enjoy teaching middle school science and enjoy helping student figure out key science ideas through hands-on investigations, small and whole group discussions, individual reflection while students engage in the practices of scientists and engineers.
Prior to joining the James Ward staff I worked at the CPS Department of Science and taught middle school science at Agustin Lara Academy for 10 years.
I love learning and found the joy of teaching while earning a Masters in Education from National-Louis University. After earning my masters degree, I worked to achieve National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Science. Through the certification process I learned the power of good questions, self reflection and peer discussion in the science classroom and so these strategies are very important to my teaching style in the classroom.
