Class Expectations
Non-Negotiables
Attendance
*Non-Negotiables are community agreements that ensure the safety of the entire school community. These areas are not to be negotiated and result in immediate actions by the Dean of Students.
Timeliness is Required
You should be in their classroom and in your seat, starting on the Bell Ringer by 8:15 am each day.
You will not be allowed in the hallways during the first 10 minutes of class or the last 10 minutes of class.
Please use the restroom in between classes, or wait until after the first 10 min of class
You must always have a valid hallway pass to come into class or exit class. If you do not, you will be marked tardy. If you leave class without a pass, you will be marked absent.
if you are tardy more than twice a week, you will receive a detention to stay after school with Ms. Jaffe. Detentions are served on Mondays or Wednesdays after school from 3:35-4:30 pm.
If tardies are excessive or detention is missed, a parent phone call and a parent shadow day will be required.
Cell-Phone Policy
Once you enter class, all cell phones must be powered off or silent, and out of sight.
Ms. Jaffe may allow music on headphones during the bell ringer (first 5 minutes of class) but it should be out of sight when her timer goes off.
If you have your cell phone out in class, you will be asked to put it away. If asked more than once, I will take it for either the remainder of the class period or the school day. I will call home and you can pick it up after 8th period.
If the Cell Phone Policy is not followed after 3 days, I will call for a Parent meeting and take the phone for the remainder of the school day, until your parent comes to pick it up.
