Welcome to our website! We are members of the freshman class at Nicholas Senn High School. Our project aims to provide a more accurate depiction and representation of the immigrant experience in the Rogers Park & Edgewater neighborhoods of Chicago. We aim to show the community ways we can work together to build bridges and move forward as an entire community. We are going to display information concerning immigrants.

This website provides three sections of content:

1. A historical timeline of immigration in our neighborhood.
2. Immigrant experiences throughout time, showing their life before coming to America, their life upon arrival to America, ongoing struggles which immigrants endure, and successes immigrants have found in America
3. Positive ways members of the community can engage with immigrants or locations with rich immigrant histories.

In seeing the common struggles immigrants have faced across time and the positive enduring impacts immigrants have had, and continue to have, on our community, the purpose of this website is to help change the narrative surrounding immigrants so they are received positively. The fears, inequality, and discrimination many immigrants face cannot be changed overnight. However, by providing and advocating for a more accurate narrative, we can all take small steps to create long-term changes so immigrants are perceived honestly and treated fairly.
