The GoCPS application process begins at the end of students' 7th grade year and last throughout their 8th grade year. It can be divided into 5 Phases. The support videos below give an overview of each phase, its timeline, and the important objectives to be accomplished.
UPDATE as of 10/20/2021:
GoCPS made some changes to their website at the opening of this year's application window. The website now reflects that the application process happens in 3 Phases (not 5, as shown below). Please note that they simply combined the previous phases 1-3 into a single phase called "Explore". The support videos below will still give you the information you need.
Support Video: Phase 1 - Learn
Timeline: Late 7th grade year - September
Objective: Learn about the GoCPS platform and how the application process works.
Support Video: Phase 2 - Search
Timeline: Late 7th grade year - October
Objective: Use the search features to begin researching programs you may be interested in.
Support Video: Phase 3 - Explore
Timeline: September - November
Objective: Start narrowing your list of schools by activating your GoCPS accounts, attending high school fairs and open houses, and doing more detailed research to find the best match and fit to you. Begin thinking about how you would rank the schools in order of preference.
Support Video: Phase 4 - Apply
Timeline: Early October - Mid December
Objectives: Create an application. Add your chosen programs. Put them in rank order. Submit your application. Register for any additional application screenings (auditions, informational sessions, etc.)
Support Video: Phase 5 - Selection
Timeline: Late March - June
Objectives: View and accept offers in GoCPS. Possible participation in: round 1 waitlist process, round 2 application process, round 2 waitlists, principal discretion.
