Announcements:

  • Students in K-5 have a French field trip the first week of November. Please be on the lookout for a permission slip later this week. Must be signed and returned for the student to be able to attend.
  • Progress reports were sent home on October 4th.

Quarter 1, Week 6:

  • Kindergarten: We are learning about objects found in our classroom and backpacks this week. We are continuing to work on this song together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b36oigvNR2g
  • 1st Grade: Students have a speaking assessment presenting their backpacks on Thursday and a matching quiz for classroom objects on Friday
  • 2nd Grade: Unit 1 test on Wednesday. Topics covered: phonics/sounds, numbers/age, colors, pets, classroom objects and commands. Vocab lists in language notebooks.
  • 3rd Grade: We are doing a series of Writers Workshops this week to review our vocabulary from this unit and learn to create organized paragraphs in French. They will have a reading assessment on Wednesday. Continue to review family members, personality traits, likes/dislikes at home. All vocabulary sheets are glued into their black language notebooks.
  • 4th Grade: Students have their third reading assessment this week. Continue to review the house and daily routine vocabulary. Quizlets are posted on GoogleClassroom to practice at home.
  • 5th Grade: Students will have their second Interpersonal Speaking assessment this week. Continue to review the verbs Aller, Voir, and Faire at home.
  • 6th Grade: We are learning reflexive verbs this week and learning the vocabulary to discuss our typical morning and night routine.

Quarter 1, Week 5:

  • 1st Grade: Students have their written counting quiz this week! We will then be starting our next chapter on classroom objects.
  • 2nd Grade: For this quarter, students will have cursive on Monday's, their Alex & Zoey textbook on Tuesday & Wednesday, and then phonics on Friday's! This week's chapter is about classroom objects. Next week will be their first written assessment. Topics covered: phonics/sounds, numbers, colors, pets, classroom objects and commands. Vocab lists in language notebooks.

Quarter 1, Week 4:

  • Kindergarten: We are starting to learn animals this week! We have another Elmer the Elephant book that introduces many of his animal friends. We will also be learning a new counting song!
  • 1st Grade: Students have their counting quiz this week! We will be counting all the way to 20. Next week they will have a written quiz where they will be expected to match the written numbers 1-10 in French.
  • 2nd Grade: For this quarter, students will have cursive on Monday's, their Alex & Zoey textbook on Tuesday & Wednesday, and then phonics on Friday's! This week's unit is about pets and family members. Topics covered: phonics/sounds, numbers, colors, pets, classroom objects and commands. Vocab lists in language notebooks.
  • 3rd Grade: Students will be finishing their family posters on Monday. They will have their first Interpersonal Speaking Assessment this week - they will be talking with a classmate about themselves (name, age, looks, personality, and likes).
  • 4th Grade: Students have their first Interpersonal Speaking Assessment this week describing what they do in their daily routine. We are going to start learning transition words this week to take our writing to the next level! (And, then, next, because). Continue to check GoogleClassroom for frequent updates.

  • 3rd Grade: we are beginning our first Standards-Based Unit: Ma Famille et Moi. Students have a reading assessment on personality traits on Monday. They are working on a presentational writing project this week and are invited to bring family photos from home!
  • 4th Grade: we are beginning our new unit about the house and daily routine this week. Students will have a reading assessment on Wednesday. Review notes glued in notebook about getting ready in the morning.
  • 5th Grade: students are working on verb conjugations this week. They will also have their first speaking assessment asking each other about actities to do in Martinique.
