BIT Cluster Mission

The BIT Cluster’s mission is to provide students with engaging high-quality instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration; curriculum that is aligned to academic, technical, and 21^st century standards; award-winning career and technical student organizations; exposure to cutting-edge industry credentials; and relevant employability skills and workplace experiences that prepare students for post-secondary success in a global economy.

Clusters vs. Pathways

Within CTE, a career cluster is a group of professions in the same field of work that share common features. A pathway is a cohort of three year-long industry-related courses that advance in complexity, skill development and application, and career preparedness. There are 16 national career clusters, and 12 of them are present in Chicago Public Schools. Within the BIT Cluster, two clusters exist (Business and IT), and six pathways (Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Game Programming, Networking, Programming, and Web Development).
