History

In July 2016, Public Act 099-0674 was signed into law. Section 20 of the act created the Competency-Based, High School Graduation Requirements Pilot Program. In April of 2017, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced that Chicago Public Schools (CPS) was one of 10 school districts selected to participate in an innovative competency-based education pilot program.
