from our virtual workshop on December 4, 2024
Long hours of sedentary screen time aren’t healthy for any of us, and there are real risks to spending extended time on social media. Yet not all screen time is created equal. How do you identify technology-based activities that are beneficial? What digital activities can your child do at home that are creative, interactive, and engage the brain? In a world full of devices, how do we find balance and set limits? We explored these topics and more at a virtual Parent TechTalk Workshop on Wednesday, December 4, from 7:00-7:45 pm, presented and facilitated by Carolyn Skibba and Blair Sundhausen. We hope the slides, recording, and links will be helpful for those who could not join us live. We look forward to continuing this important conversation as a community!

AAP - Create a Family Media Plan
Do not be intimidated by the scope of this tool! It covers almost everything, but the best approach is to choose only ONE topic and then set family goals within that topic. Topics include Media Balance, Kindness and Empathy, Screen Free Zones, etc. Choose one as a family. Decide when it is time to modify or add goals, and chart your progress together! You can log in and update your plan as you go, and goals can be customized for different ages (adults too!)
