Welcome

Welcome to the new school year.  I have enjoyed getting to know your wonderful children this past week, and I am thrilled to begin the year!

I am passionate about exploring, challenging and discussing ideas with my students each year, and I am excited to be focusing on 6th grade reading! 

All About Me

I graduated from Dominican University in 2008 with a degree in English Education and received my Masters of Education in English as a Second Language a few years ago.  I have taught English Language Arts for the last fifteen years. Ten of those years were at Horace Greeley, a Chicago Public School in Lakeview, and I was new to Sauganash last year. I truly love teaching middle schoolers and am overwhelmed with amazement as I watch them grow as learners and independent thinkers who question the world around them.   

These are a Few of my Favorite Things….

• Spending time with my husband, daughter (4), son (2), and dog

• Time with friends--going shopping, to new restaurants, or museums 

• Reading a good book

• Traveling to new places 

• Road trips across the country
