Ms. Cooke's Class

About Me

Hi! My name is Rachel Cooke, and as y'all can probably tell from my pictures up top, I love horses. Although I don't have a horse of my own, there are three different places I go to get my horse fix. One is in Mount Holly, and two are further away (in Indian Trail and in Midland). I love to show my students pictures of me hanging out with my equine friends!

I have two younger brothers. One is in Texas studying for his graduate degree at Baylor University, and my youngest brother is studying for his undergrad degree at my alma mater school, Liberty University. I certainly miss them!

I was homeschooled from kindergarten all the way through to high school. In high school, I taught myself mostly through reading, and I developed a strong interest in science. I also attended Gavel Club, a club that helped me develop my public speaking skills. Other activities included ball room dancing, recreational horseback riding and volunteer work, choir, and handbells.

When I began studying at Liberty University, I pursued a degree in elementary education. In class, I learned the how and why behind teaching. I also spent many hours in a variety of classrooms, which helped me gain experience through observation and through teaching lessons of my own. I student taught in the Fall semester of 2018, and I became a Teacher Assistant for the same school during the Spring semester. In the fall of 2019, I began teaching here at CPCS!
