Team members in 8th Grade Strings will have the opportunity to try different instruments like the guitar, bass guitar, ukelele, drums, keyboard, and voice. No experience is required, though more advanced students will be given more information and skills. Team members learn about group performance, being in a band, songwriting, and music production. Team members receive an overview of television and the television team; careers in television and video; an orientation to writing for television as compared to other media; the use of basic television equipment, and much more.
This course introduces students to HTML and Web Site Design. Students create mock web sites throughout the semester using text editing software ~ all coding is completed as hard code. The capstone project for this course is the completion of a web site.
The class has been designed as an introduction to the world of Robotics. The goal is to allow team members to experience this highly specialized field of Engineering (Mechatronics) and find out if this something they may want to pursue as a career. Team members can then further their knowledge of robotics once in high school.
Forensic Science is the application of science (chemistry, physics, and biology) to the criminal and civil laws that are enforced by police agencies in a criminal justice system. It includes the investigation of fingerprinting, fiber analysis, ballistics, arson, trace evidence analysis, poisons, drugs, blood spatters, and blood samples. Students are taught the proper collection, preservation, and laboratory analysis of various samples. In the nine weeks, the students will follow a crime from the scene, evidence analysis collection and analysis, witness interviews and booking until they become expert crime sleuths!
