The objectives of orientation to low-angle rescue (LAR) are to give SAR personnel an overview of LAR operations and equipment so they can more effectively participate in the rescue phase of a search. Topics covered include LAR equipment, basic knots, hasty harness and individual equipment, litter handling, basic raising and lowering techniques, mechanical advantage systems, and rescuer roles and responsibilities during low-angle operations.
