Lost Person Behavior TTT

Become certified to instruct Lost Person Behavior based upon the program developed by Robert Koester and currently used by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management's SAR program. Participants will not only attend the full Lost Person Behavior program, but also receive in-depth instruction, a statistics for SAR primer, and case studies that goes above and beyond the actual course. Participants will walk away with new practical knowledge, a license to instruct the course, Lost Person Behavior Instructor's Resource DVD (includes PowerPoint), Lost Person Behavior text, Urban Search, Instructor's Activity Guide, Lost Person Behavior Workbook, Slide masters, and Data Analysis Handbook.  The train-the-trainer is limited to 24 participants.

During the first three days of the Train-the-Trainer the two-day version will be presented.  On the fourth day the class will spend the majority of the day in Shenandoah National Park looking at the locations of several major searches. The class will look at the initial planning points, decision points, terrain analysis, and in some cases find locations.  On the final day the field case studies will be tied to the map problems.  In addition, the details and mechanics of teaching the class will be covered. Class participants bring a vast background of experience and insight. Therefore, plenty of time is set aside for social interaction.
