Recommended Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation
This rigorous honors level physical science semester-long course is designed for students who will enroll in advanced college preparatory science in grade 10 and 11 (and grade 12 if they choose). Emphasis will be placed on the study of topics in chemistry and physics which will include numerous inquiry-based projects, engineering activities and laboratory exercises requiring data analysis using mathematical and graphical tools. An emphasis will be placed on critical thinking skills and problem solving. Students must be motivated and self-disciplined as they will be expected to work independently on homework and projects. This honors level will progress at a much quicker pace and include additional concepts to develop content knowledge and science inquiry skills necessary for success in advanced science courses.

This physical science course is designed to help students build basic skills in the areas of chemistry and physics, through a hands-on approach involving lab work, engineering activities, demonstrations and projects. Students will be introduced to data analysis and graphing applications. An emphasis will be placed on critical thinking and the solutions to real-life problems. This course will include additional supports to scaffold science content and practices. The course is also intended as preparation for biology and chemistry.
