COUSD COVID DASHBOARD

The Charter Oak Unified School District is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for students and staff. The data below represents the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among District students and staff over the past 7 days. Data will be updated on a weekly basis and as cases are confirmed. Please note, the Dashboard is not updated on weekends, non-school days or holidays.

If your student(s) is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, it must be reported to your school. The COUSD schools and staff will maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy, following all FERPA Protocols.

In addition to health and safety measures taken on campuses, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of handwashing, physical distancing to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Daily symptom checks have proved to be helpful to our families to ensure students are healthy before arriving on campus. If a student experiences one or more symptoms while on campus, such as a fever over 100.4, coughing, diarrhea, or vomiting, we are required to send the student home to protect the health of their classmates and others on campus.

In the event of a positive COVID-19 case on a Charter Oak campus, LACDPH requires us to do the following:

• Send the positive COVID-19 student home. If you have COVID-19, you must self-isolate regardless of vaccination status, previous infection, or lack of symptoms.

• How long do I need to isolate?

• Everyone with COVID-19 must isolate for at least 5 days. How long you have to isolate depends on whether you have symptoms and if you get a negative follow-up viral test on day 5 or later. If you test on day 5 or later, it is better to use an antigen test because NAAT/PCR tests can stay positive even after you are no longer infectious. For the LADPH Isolation policies: Click Here

• In the event of a positive case at a school site, a notification letter is emailed to all parents as an FYI of possible exposure. All letters will be on school letterhead.
