Are you faith-based or secular?

We are a Christian faith based program. Throughout the week students and educators may reference their faith, God, Fruits of the Spirit, etc. Some of the curriculum we use is written from a Christian view-point and during the Christmas and Easter season we often read devotionals or Bible stories.  However, there are no daily Bible lessons and we respect that each family has the freedom to choose how they want to teach and practice their faith. 

Can we come for a tour?

Absolutely! We ask all interested families to come in and see our space. Our tour times are before and after class so that our educators and learners can focus on their studies. As our learning space is within a residence we do not post our address publicly and will share the address when we schedule your tour. We also ask all interested learners to join us for a "trial day" so that both family, learner and Learning Center can assess if this is the best fit for the child. 

Are you approved with the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)?

We are not. At the time of the TEFA program's creation, we were simply not eligible as we had not been an active program for a full two years. As we neared the end of our second year we debated whether to pursue accreditation and then apply to be a private school vendor. Ultimately we decided that our mission was to support homeschoolers and that we valued the freedom we had being a homeschool-hybrid program. We know many families are interested in TEFA and have applied for this support. We will be monitoring the execution of this initial year of the TEFA program and its impact on homeschooling and alternative education families and programs. There may be a future time when we decide to proceed with accreditation and/or the TEFA program.  At this time we feel not participating is the best way to support our mission. 

Do you provide all the materials or do we?

Both. :) 

We provide most of the materials needed for class. However, some families select to provide their own math books based on their child's previous instruction with that program. There may also be novels needed throughout the year (we have a LARGE library, we just don't have everything). We ask families to supply notebooks (so learners can pickout their own) and individual supplies like colored pencils, scissors, etc. Throughout the year we may also ask for donations of items like copy paper, construction paper, various craft supplies, etc. 

What do we do on the days my children are not at the Learning Center?

Here is where the joy and freedom of homeschooling comes in! Those are your days to design. Some families use secondary learning programs to supplement what we're doing in class. Some families request and are provided work from us to complete during those days. Some families lean into child interests those days or complete a unit study as a family. Some families participate in other programs or classes or may even enjoy a simple day of rest. The beauty is that it's up to you!
