Nutshell respects your privacy and is designed to collect only the information needed to run the app, create your account, and provide AI answers.

Information We Collect

• Account information
  When you sign up, we collect your email address and name to create and manage your account. Your password is handled securely by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never visible to us.​

• Subscription and purchases
  We offer a monthly subscription through Apple and/or RevenueCat. We do not see or store your card number or full payment details; billing is processed by Apple and/or RevenueCat using their own secure systems and purchase tokens/receipts.

• Usage and analytics data
  We may collect basic analytics about how many people download and sign up for the app, and how often the app is opened, to understand overall usage and improve Nutshell. This information is generally aggregated and not used to identify you personally.​

• Logs and technical data
  Our backend and database provider (Supabase) may keep logs that include technical details such as your IP address, device or browser information, timestamps, and your user ID, to keep the service secure and to troubleshoot issues.

• Content you create
  When you use Nutshell, your questions and related content are stored in our database (Supabase) so we can show you your history and improve the service. These questions may also appear in system logs used for debugging.

Use of AI and Third-Party Services

• Perplexity API
  To generate answers, we send your questions and necessary context to a third‑party AI service (Perplexity) via their API. That provider processes your text to return an answer to you and may maintain temporary logs of requests to operate and secure their service, according to their own data practices.

• RevenueCat and Apple
  For subscriptions, RevenueCat and Apple receive purchase‑related data (such as anonymous IDs, receipts, and purchase history) so that we can verify and manage your subscription status. They do not share your full payment card details with us.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not request access to your camera, microphone, or contacts in the current version of the app.

• We do not directly store your payment card details; those are handled by Apple and/or your payment provider.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide and maintain the Nutshell app and your account.

• Process and verify subscriptions.

• Generate AI answers based on your questions.

• Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical problems.

Data Sharing

We share your information only with:

• Service providers that help us run Nutshell (for example, Supabase for authentication and storage, Perplexity for AI, and RevenueCat/Apple for subscriptions), and only to the extent necessary for them to provide their services.

• Authorities if required by law, or if we believe it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data Retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Logs kept by our providers (such as Supabase, Perplexity, and RevenueCat) may be stored for a period of time consistent with their own retention policies for security, billing, and compliance.

Your Choices

• You can request deletion of your account and associated content by contacting us at the email address below.

• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple account settings.
