The purpose of this project is to provide curriculum in the form of three writing units (Narrative, Informational, and Opinion) using writer’s workshop strategies. These units provide a framework and protocols for teachers at my site to work from, so they can provide writing instruction that is engaging, relevant, and challenges upper elementary school students to become better writers. The curriculum highlights how writing can go from being an activity that is simply assigned, to writing instruction that is authentically taught, with the needs of students at the forefront. The writing units help support teachers to provide their students with instruction, opportunities for practice, and concrete goals.
