Radio waves from radar technology makes it possible to be able to detect the object in the microwave that is being cooked.The microwave is a very convenient technology, because sometimes using the regular oven to heat up food takes a long time. In modern times people are reliant on prepared food, which is food that doesn't have to be cooked, and this is why the microwave has become a common necessity for people. Microwaves have been a big part of cooking culture, and life without them might be way harder than it already is, cooking wise of course.
