Here's a short timeline of the most significant additions of the freezer
1860-Introduction of Ammonia
There have been many attempts to create the freezing component of freezers, not many were successful. Ferdinand Carre decided to use his invention of ammonia, being able to control the temperature was very helpful in preserving food. However, ammonia is highly toxic. Any leakage would put the user at serious risk!
Electricity took its place in the 1920s.
1940s- Commerical freezers
Separate appliance, not attached to a large fridge. World War II slowed down the manufacture of this invention because they needed weapons created for the war.
Offered more storage space for food and drink.
1947 The First Fridge Freezer
Sales of freezers picked up after World War II ended, families wanting to build their homes and more inclined to accept new technology. Introduced by General Electric, the fridge freezer combined both a fridge and a freezer.
1970s- Freezers become more energy efficient
To reduce the amount of energy used, they were equipped with higher quality parts and energy saving technologies.
Now the modern freezer consumes only around 1 kWh in just 24 hours.

Introduced new technologies like upright form, frost prevention, ice dispensers, climate class, adjustable storage, simpler controls, simpler controls, smart connectivity, fast freeze functions, improved door seals, and power cut compensation.
