English Learners (EL) are students with a primary language other than English on the state-approved Home Language Survey and have been determined to lack the clearly defined English language skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing necessary to succeed in the school's regular instructional program.
According to Title V California Code of Regulations 11300 (a) we must comply with offering Designated English language Development. “Designated English Language Development” means instruction provided during a time set aside in the regular school day for focused instruction on the state-adopted English language development (ELD) standards to assist Multilingual students to develop critical English language skills necessary for academic content learning in English. Our school has determined this to be 30 minutes a day.
