What denotes a gifted individual?
The definition of gifted and talented is the following: Gifted and talented children and youth are those of high potential or ability whose learning characteristics and educational needs require qualitatively differentiated educational experiences and/or services. Possession of these talents and gifts, or the potential for their development, will be evidenced through an interaction of above average intellectual ability, task commitment and/or motivation, and creative ability. It is important to note there is a difference between a bright child and a gifted learner. Below are some of the characteristics associated with gifted learners. While this is not an all inclusive list of traits, these are common traits observed in gifted children. It is important to know all students are unique and there may be a variety of exhibited characteristics not listed.
