The elementary K-5 needs assessment is completed in May each year. We use end of the year assessments to decide our needs for the upcoming school year. This data provides information on student progress from the current year, as well as providing guidance for instructional activities for the following school year.

These assessments provide a variety of information that helps determine how students are reading, individual progress made and deficiencies that students may be experiencing in their development as a reader.

With this information we can approximate the levels of student need for specific instruction. It helps teachers form groups for working on specific skills and strategies. We see the benefits of this instruction as we can target and assist students with accessing text from our ELA curriculum, CKLA.
