Title 1 District Statement

Cornell Title I provides educational supports for students and families.

The elementary K-5 needs assessment is completed in May each year.  We use end of the year assessments to decide our needs for the upcoming school year.  This data  provides information on student progress from the current year, as well as providing guidance for instructional activities for the following school year.

Assessments used

These assessments provide a variety of information that helps determine how students are reading,  individual progress made and deficiencies that students may be experiencing in their development as a reader.

With this information we can approximate the levels of student need for specific instructionIt helps teachers form groups for working on specific skills and strategies.  We see the benefits of this instruction as we can target and assist students with accessing text from our ELA curriculum, CKLA

Cornell classroom teachers and specialists assess students throughout the year as needed.  We feel the data collected helps drive our instruction to meet best practices in our day to day classroom activities.

Our goal is to meet the needs of independent readers and to help them to gain skills that will make them successful as they progress through their elementary, middle and high school education.
