I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Cornell University. I received both a B.S and M.S in Biology from the LIU Post Campus of Long Island University in 2009 and 2012 respectively, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Structural Biology from Stony Brook University in 2018, and was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stony Brook University. Beyond research, I enjoy cooking, doing ballet and listening to podcasts.
I am a graduate student in the field of Microbiology at Cornell University. I earned my B.S. in genetics from the University of New Hampshire, where I worked in the lab of Dr. Kevin Culligan. After completing my undergraduate studies, I received an ORISE fellowship and worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in the lab of Dr. Alexander Pichugin. At WRAIR, I discovered my interest in pathogen biology while working on a project characterizing the genetic diversity of malaria clinical isolates. Currently in the Nisbett lab my research focus is determining the role of quorum sensing in mycobacterial biofilm formation. In my free time, I spend a lot of time hiking, reading horror novels with my two kitties on my lap, and working in my garden.
I am a graduate student in the Department of Microbiology at Cornell University. I received a B.S. in Neuroscience and a B.A. in Spanish Literature from Colorado State University in 2022. After graduating, I studied Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Dr. Shuyi Ma’s lab at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, where I developed an interest in mycobacterial signaling. As a graduate student I am particularly interested in Mycobacterium abscesses signaling underlying biofilm formation. Outside of lab, I enjoy reading, knitting, and learning all about whales and birds.
