Teaching and Outreach
Teaching Experience
Instructor of Record Calculus 2 Math 1120: In Fall 2023, I am the instructor of record for Math 1120 at Cornell University. I employ a mix of lecture and active learning strategies in my classroom.
Ithaca High School Math Seminar 2022: I am teaching another two month mini-course at Ithaca High School. This time we will be foucing on finding solutions to Diophantine equations.
SPUR REU: I was one of the mentors for the SPUR REU at Cornell in Summer 2022 running a project about ellipsoid embeddings into polydiscs with Tara Holm and Morgan Weiler. This project was inspired by my thesis work.
Ithaca High School Math Seminar 2021: I ran a two month mini-course from Nov-Dec 2021 at Ithaca High School where we are exploring continued fractions, Farey diagrams, and Diophantine equations. Here is a link to the notes I am currently updating for this course: notes. These notes closely follow Allen Hatcher's Topology of Numbers textbook.
Multivariable Calculus Math 1920: I was a teaching assistant for multivariable calculus for both semesters in the 2019-2020 school year.
Math Fellow: For the academic year of 2016-2017, I was a math fellow at Denver Public Schools. In this position, I worked at Castro Elementary where I was a small-group math instructor for 3rd-5th graders. I worked with students who were significantly below grade level and benefited from a small-group setting rather than the normal classroom during the school day.
Outreach Opportunties
Chair of Outreach for the Association for Women in Math at Cornell: While serving this role, my co-chair Emily and I organized two Julia Robinson Math Festivals at Cornell.
Mentoring opportunities: I help organize the mentoring program for incoming math PhD students at Cornell and have also participated as a mentor the the AWM at Cornell mentoring program for undergraduate students.
I have organized and volunteered at the math session of Cornell's Expand Your Horizons. This program is for middle school girls to learn about STEM careers. In my session, we played tic-tac-toe on a torus.
Computer Programming Club: During my time at Castro Elementary, I ran an after-school computer programming club.
Seminars Organized
Symplectic Squad: Organized a symplectic geometry reading group since 2020.
What Is Seminar: Organized seminar for math professors at Cornell to introduce their research interests to graduate students in Fall 2020 and Fall 2018.
Olivetti Club: Organized graduate student seminar at Cornell in Spring 2020.
